Fremont County 10 news history is expansive and complex. Beginning with its establishment during the Oregon Trail era in the 1840s, many traveled west along its paths, eventually settling here after following their paths across to Colorado and Wyoming. Later on came railroad travel which led to economic development; today sagebrush and timber industries remain important parts of local economies while Fremont County 10 news boasts two national parks and six state monuments including one built by John C. Fremont County 10 news schools could be shaken to their core by a new law mandating students use pronouns that correspond with their gender identities. It will go before the Board for its initial reading this week in response to a lawsuit brought forth by parents of transgender student. At one recent board meeting, however, Fremont County Library System director spoke out against such legislation as she warned it may overpower local anti-obscenity policies and spark “lawfare” against librarians.
County residents have long relied upon agricultural products like cattle and grains produced within its boundaries for economic gain. Furthermore, mineral resources are a cornerstone of its economy while tourism and recreational activities also play key roles.
Two of Fremont County’s three Commissioners recently returned from attending a national county leaders conference, discussing various issues with their counterparts as well as discussing the importance of stimulus packages in regards to how it impacts their city and town cities and towns.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment recently issued a warning about measles outbreak, making vaccination a top priority. A measles vaccine can be obtained at any doctor’s office and should provide sufficient protection.
Riverton
Riverton in Fremont County 10 news, Colorado, is home to approximately 14,000 people and offers residents an exceptional quality of life due to low crime rates and ample amenities in the area. Riverton also benefits from an expanding economy as well as low property taxes; yet despite these advantages it still faces challenges with high unemployment and an overcrowded school system.
On a recent episode of County 10 Podcast, we spoke with Officer Brandon Brookover from Riverton Police Department about his background and hopes for the community moving forward. Additionally, he described his journey into patrol officer position within Riverton.
Riverton Museum recently unveiled a new exhibit dedicated to local veterans who served in the US Armed Forces. This showcase of uniforms from four branches honors them while featuring large photos of these soldiers as well.
Wyoming Community Bank sponsored this exhibit of the Discovery Speaker Series. Alma Law, an English teacher from Riverton High School, spoke about various ghost tales and urban legends associated with Riverton and Fremont County areas.
History lovers won’t want to miss this exhibit! Showcasing items from both Riverton Museum’s own collection as well as loaned artifacts, these objects are beautifully displayed while their respective histories are described in great depth.
Alongside artifacts, the exhibit also provides information about programs and events hosted by the museum. Open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

Wyoming
Attorney General John Woykovsky maintains that it would be improper for any judge to grant an injunction that would prevent implementation of a new abortion restriction law. According to him, no constitutional protection exists to allow women the autonomy over their health care decisions; similarly, Roe v Wade remains valid until officially overruled by a higher court. Abortion rights activists contend the new legislation unfairly targets Wellspring Clinic without making women safer during abortion procedures.
Fremont County will hold their 2024 elections today and we’ll share results as they become available. Polls close at 7 PM, and unofficial results should begin rolling in shortly afterwards from the Clerk’s office. County 10 will post its own results here as they become available; we will also share additional insights regarding specific races as soon as they have been finalized.
Authorities have confirmed the death of 18-year-old Wyomingite Stephanie Grace Bearstail after she leapt out of a moving SUV on March 4 in Saint Stephens near Rendezvous Road milepost 1.5 and leapt. A crash fatality summary published by Wyoming Highway Patrol notes this incident on its website as occurring March 4. Stephanie Grace Bearstail had been traveling in an SUV travelling on Rendezvous Road near Milepost 1.5 at the time she exited it to commit suicide by jumping.
Reports indicated the incident took place in a rural area with limited traffic, and Bearstail wasn’t wearing her seat belt at the time. No information regarding who drove and was involved has been made public by police.
Even as Wyoming remains in mourning, residents remain committed to keeping their communities safe. They do this through efforts like teaching children the dangers of distracted driving and encouraging everyone to wear seatbelts at all times; and by working closely with local governments to secure resources necessary.
