In October, the drama took place on the set of the low-budget western “Rust”. Alec Baldwin accidentally shot camerawoman Halyna Hutchins with a prop gun. Director Joel Souza (“In the Net of Violence”) was also hit in the course of this, but is fortunately on the mend. The accident made headlines around the world. Baldwin, who appears in the film as a leading actor and as a producer, said in an interview with the press that they were a well-rehearsed team. However, he said he was not allowed to comment on the investigation.
The focus is also on assistant director David Halls and weapons master Hannah Guiterrez-Reed. Halls is said to have been the one who handed Baldwin the pistol with the words “cold weapon”. Even if, according to his lawyer, it was not clear whether this was true, he admitted, he had not strictly followed the safety precautions and incompletely checked the weapon. The weapon master brought the pistol to the set.
It remains to be clarified whether those involved can expect a penalty. Now “Squid Game” creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has also spoken out about the accident and said clearly why something like this would not have been possible on the set of the hit Netflix series.

Why such an incident cannot happen with “Squid Game”
In “Squid Game” you can see how over 400 highly indebted people have to compete against each other in apparently harmless children’s games. However, if they fail at the task, they will be killed without mercy. The series’ writer and director, Hwang Dong-hyuk, told Variety about the incident on the Rust set:
“We have a prop master, of course, but we are not a licensed weapon country in Korea, so only the police can own and own a weapon.”

And further: “Because of this, balls cannot be distributed as easily as maybe here, so the probability that security problems will arise on the set is very low.” The series creator then emphasized: “I’ve never seen a real bullet in my life. I’ve only seen it in movies.”

Park Hae-soo, who played one of the leading roles in “Squid Game”, also said with regard to the incident in the USA: “I was so sad about the tragedy. I just want to express my condolences.”
It’s been around ten years since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was released. Since then there have been two “Fantastic Beasts” films and even a “Harry Potter” play with “The Cursed Child”, but fans of the “golden trio” Harry, Ron and Hermione only had to choose the eight films in the series to look again. But now there is finally new material – even if only once.
