“Squid Game” director already talks about season 3: “Variety of possibilities”

Squid Game has been viewed millions of times around the world. While the second season is in progress, Hwang Dong-hyuk is already thinking about a third season.

A series of deadly games in which only one can be left at the end: “Squid Game” embedded the well-known battle royale principle in an interesting scenario and also referred to South Korea’s social and societal problems.

Although the main storyline ends with the end of season 1, some of the storylines have been deliberately left open.

In November, director Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed that he was working on a second season – and now the 50-year-old is already thinking about a third season.

“I’m in talks with Netflix about both season 2 and season 3,” the series creator told Korea Times. “We will come to a conclusion shortly.”

Hwang Dong-hyuk explained the “multitude of possibilities” that would arise in the universe of “Squid Game”. “But nothing is set in stone yet,” he added.

There is already wild speculation in fan circles: Will the sequel seamlessly build on the events of season 1? Or is the event shifting to another country or even to a different time frame?

“There was so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season that we have no other choice,” said Hwang Dong-hyuk.

He also confirmed that Season 2 will definitely go into the policeman’s relationship with his mysterious brother (The Front Man).
