“Squid Game” continues to make its name in history. The Korean Netflix series has just received several nominations at the Screens Actors Guild Awards. A first for a non-English-speaking series, underlines the American site Variety.
The creation of Hwang Dong-hyuk is thus cited four times in the list of nominations for the SAG Awards 2022, the ceremony organized by the very influential union of American cinema and television actors. Squid Game is in the category of best attribution for a drama series with Succession, The Handmaid’s Tale, Yellowstone and The Morning Show.
Actress Jung Ho-yeon will face Sarah Snook (Estate), Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show), Jennifer Aniston (The Morning Show), and Elisabeth Moss (Handmaid’s Tale) for the award for Best Actress in a Drama Series. Lee Jung-jae will contest the award for Best Actor in a Drama Series from Jeremy Strong (Estate), Brian Cox (Estate), Kieran Culkin (Estate), and Billy Crudup (The Morning Show). Squid Game will also be featured in the Best Stunt Team category in a drama series facing Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Mare of Easttown, Loki and Cobra Kai.

These nominations at the SAG Awards obviously delighted Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of Squid Game. “Since we released Squid Game, we’ve been through a lot of amazing things. But these four-category nominations at the SAG Awards are one of the most surprising and happy times we’ve experienced. I am very honored especially since it is not one or two main actors who are recognized but the whole cast and the stuntmen. I am happy to be able to thank each member of the team and each actor who worked on Squid Game”, he confides to Variety.
