Viola Davis To Publish A Biography Next Year

Viola Davis is an actress, producer, activist and philanthropist, and now she will also be an author. HarperCollins Publishers has announced the acquisition of the Oscar-winning actress’s memoirs, which will be published next year. Titled Finding Me, the book will be published in association with Ebony Magazine Publishing through HarperOne, a brand of HarperCollins.

According to HarperOne, the memoirs are a “true hero’s journey” that runs through Davis’ life, from her childhood in Rhode Island, to her start as an actress in the theater, to her multiple awards and her current role as an actress.

Davis, who is just one Grammy Award from an EGOT, has made stellar turns in modern classics like Ma Rainey’s Doubt, Fences and Black Bottom, along with roles in genre films like Widows, Suicide Squad and Ender’s Game. On television, she is best known for her role as Annalize Keating in How to Get Away with Murder, and has appeared in August Wilson’s King Hedley II and Fences on Broadway.

Davis has received a Primetime Emmy Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards for his work on television, along with a Tony Award, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award for his work on Fences. She has been nominated for the Academy Awards four times, making her the most nominated black actress in history, and she also joins Renée Zellweger for the most winning films for an actress at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
