The year has already started, the parties have passed and now the trend is to reflect on what we want for this year and, thus, plan the 2022 goals. But calm down, it doesn’t have to be anything difficult or boring! Today I’m going to give you some tips on how you can reflect on them lightly and also to remember and put them into action over the next few months!
I’ve had my goals written in a notebook since 2012, when I started thinking about it in therapy. Writing them helps me a lot to have a year with more purpose, more focus and respectively better well-being, after all, I think about all facets of my life and practical things I can do to be happier!
The first thing I want you to think about is: Your goals must be yours! It’s no use wanting to do something just because the other said it would be good, it has to come from you, ok?
Second, your goals need to be appropriate to the SMART model: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and temporal. In other words, it’s no use putting in the notebook “I want to be happier”, you need to think about what makes you happy! So in this case, for me, I feel happier when I go out with friends, so the goal would be like “in 2022 I will meet my friends at least 1 time a month”. This is a specific goal, it’s also measurable because I can assess whether or not I was able to find them, it’s achievable because I put something that was possible into my routine, it’s relevant to my own well-being and it’s temporal!
I suggest that you take time to think about your goals and don’t write them down on the run. Pause, put on a song you like, connect with your desires, imagine how you would like your year to be, dream and see it all come true! But above all, think about what it’s up to you to make all this happen!!! Small steps, with constancy, lead us to great places!!
Now get to work! Here are facets of your life that you can stop to reflect: work/profession, study, personal life, relationships (family, friends, romance), health/wellness, financial, leisure/hobbies, emotional, spiritual. Choose the ones that make sense to you and remember that there is no right or wrong way ok?
I also invite you to think about who are the people who will be your pillar this year, the ones who can support and encourage you, in good times and bad. This is called a support network and it is fundamental to our happiness!
Now, there’s a way to lessen the frustration of year-end unattainable goals when you write them with more self-knowledge and awareness! So I invite you to reflect a lot before just writing on paper! And also, we need to make these goals happen, after all, nothing comes from beyond, even the good surprises in life only appear when we are prepared for them! And one last point is, we also need to allow ourselves to be flexible, there are times when the goals will no longer make sense along the way and that’s ok, after all, you can write others!!
Try to read your goals once a month and schedule your routine by implementing the goals in small goals in your week, so you will be sure that you will be walking towards your own fulfillment and happiness!
Let’s go on this journey together!!! I wish you a beautiful, light year, full of health, emotional stability, many joys and achievements! I hope I can contribute a lot with your self-knowledge and evolve together as people! See you here every Saturday!
