We tell you exactly where to find copper and how to use it after the latest Minecraft updates.
One of the main novelties of the first part of the Caves and Cliffs update for Minecraft was the inclusion of copper, a mineral that is great for making a series of structures.
But with the arrival of the part 2 of the Caves and Cliffs update Now the arrangement of copper has changed slightly, although luckily this is good news for gamers, because copper is now much easier to obtain which will facilitate a multitude of new constructions.
That is why we consider it appropriate to create this guide where we will not only tell you exactly what you can use copper for, but also where you could find it after the last update.
Minecraft: what is copper for and how to get it
What does copper do and what is it for?
While there are hundreds of uses that we can put to the copper that we find, we are basically going to focus on the most popular constructions.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that you can combine nine copper ingots to form a copper block and these copper blocks are the basis of many of the constructions that you will create in Minecraft.
Another aspect to keep in mind is that a regular copper block can be transformed into a cut copper block, waxed copper block, or waxed cut copper block.
- To achieve the cut variant, a work table must be made using a stone cutter.
- To get the waxed variant you must combine a copper block with a honeycomb.
Both blocks can be transformed into slabs and stairs for the different buildings.
Remember that these copper blocks can go through four oxidation stages such as unweathered, exposed, weathered and rusted. These phases are random and occur over time and you can use an ax to scrape the block and revert it to an earlier stage.
In any case, if you don’t want any of these stages to happen, you can always use honeycombs to prevent them from rusting beyond the stage they are currently in.
On the other hand, with the copper ingots you will be able to build a lightning rod and a spyglass.
- As for the spyglass, you need three ingots combined to create the lightning rod, and then two ingots and an amethyst shard to finally shape the spyglass.
- You can also create the relevant lightning rod that will allow you to deoxidize copper blocks since one lightning is enough to completely revert a copper block to its natural state.
Where to get lots of copper blocks
After part 2 of the Caves and Cliffs update you will be able to find a lot of copper between Y112 to -16, although the area where we will be able to extract much more is Y48.
In any case, it is a mineral that is now much more common, especially in the underground, practically doubling its rate of appearance, so you will not have much difficulty in finding it in other layers as well.
