SGE trainer against punishment
After the transfer window, which was disappointing for Filip Kostic, coach Oliver Glasner wants to have a “clear and open conversation” with the unwilling player who stayed at Eintracht Frankfurt. This is “much more important than a penalty”, emphasized the new SGE coach after the curiously failed purchase attempt from Lazio Rome, whereupon Kostic went on training strike.
“Filip deserves a chance,” said Glasner in an interview with “Kicker”. Eintracht Frankfurt open the door to Kostic. We all got to know him as a nice, highly professional guy who always gave the best for Eintracht Frankfurt. Glasner said: “From the team there are clear statements from Sebastian Rode and Martin Hinteregger that the door is open and that there will be a common future here.”

A contractually agreed transfer, with which the player can buy himself out of his contract, could have been prevented in the meantime, according to Glasner: “Probably a release clause is even good for players, because there is then no issue like now with Filip. Once the price is set, no player can say, Hey, I want you guys to let me go cheaper. An exit clause ensures complete transparency. For example, if a player had a release clause of 25 million euros, they would never be pissed off if we didn’t sell them for 10 million euros. If you come to an agreement with the other club at 20 million, it’s even more ‘harmonious’ because you voluntarily went down by five million. Now the situation is that there is no release clause and the player is pissed off because we won’t let him go for eight or ten million. “
