The former Guatemalan soccer player and top scorer of the National Team, shared his opinion on social networks about the possibility of Guatemala to compete in the 2021 Gold Cup
GUATEMALA – Due to COVID-19 contagions in the Curaçao delegation, the Guatemalan National Team would have been invited by Concacaf to compete in the 2021 Gold Cup, so the movements have begun in the National Federation of Soccer to conform the payroll that will be in charge of the Mexican Rafael Loredo.
Given this, the ex-footballer and top scorer of the Guatemala National Team with 68 annotations, Carlos ‘The Fish’ RuizHe expressed his opinion on social networks with a strong message against the Guatemalan football leaders.
“If the information is true, out of dignity some of us would not go to the Gold Cup, but Fedefut does not know about that. Each participant receives $ 150k more or less. Money that never comes to the development of football something obvious. I ask what leader do you see saying no to that cake? Carlos Ruiz wrote on Twitter.

In the absence of official confirmation from Concacaf, Guatemala would be integrating Group A together with El Salvador, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago, order with which it would be playing the commitments in the United States.
In statements to El Salvador newspaper, Gerardo Paiz, President of Fedefut, informed that they are taking all the steps to comply with Concacaf’s requirements. “I can say that we are working to complete the requirements that Concacaf asks to be in the Gold Cup, instead of Curaçao. When that is done, Concacaf will make it official. “
At the moment it is known that the roster of Guatemala should be made up of the players that were registered in the preliminary list that Fedefut gave to Concacaf.
