In addition to the Draft, it is the big information of this evening of Thursday: Russell Westbrook will join the Lakers in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and the 22nd choice of the Draft 2021.
All this will be completely official on August 6 and would have been imagined two weeks ago now, the Los Angeles Times tells us.
Indeed, Russell Westbrook went to LeBron James, along with Anthony Davis, to discuss a possible reunion of the three stars in Los Angeles. The three players have decided to put their egos aside to aim for the title, which the Lakers won in 2020 but lost this season.
The 2017 MVP put emphasis on his intention to finally win that ring (although he always defended himself from chasing), especially at home in his hometown after playing at UCLA.
LeBron forward; Davis pivot
As for LeBron James and Anthony Davis, they have confirmed that they are ready to change positions for the good of the group. The first will become more of a winger, the second evolve more at the pivot position. The MVP of the 2020 Finals will then be relieved of the creation, which he can leave to Westbrook even if the latter has assured not to be against playing without a ball, since he has already done it in Houston next to James Harden.
Beautiful promises therefore, which must above all be implemented because this association, if it inspires dreams on paper, is far from being obvious and complementary on the floor. The Lakers will have to find shooters to surround this new “Big Three”.
