The demo for the preservation of the Köpi-Wagenplatz ends in Friedrichshain – BZ Berlin

Around 1,000 participants from the left and left-wing radical scene demonstrated on Saturday evening in Berlin against a planned evacuation of the left-wing alternative construction trailer settlement on an occupied property on Köpenicker Straße.

Among the demonstrators was a large block of left-wing autonomists dressed in black and hooded. The participants ran from the site through Kreuzberg to Friedrichshain.

Firecrackers were ignited right from the start. The demonstration with the title “Defend Køpi Wagenplatz” was closely accompanied by a large police presence. According to observations by a dpa reporter, more than 1000 people were on the street.

On October 15, the car space next to the autonomous “Köpi” residential project in Köpenicker Strasse in Mitte is to be cleared. The residents do not want to accept that – and have called for several demos.

According to the judgment, the undeveloped, 2,600 square meter plot of land on which construction trailers and caravans are located must be cleared. According to the residents’ association, around 30 people live there. The building at Köpenicker Strasse 137 is not affected.
