TOUR DE FRANCE 2021. After isolating himself 36 kilometers from the finish, Patrick Konrad resisted to clinch the best victory of his career at Saint-Gaudens. - The 16th stage of the Tour de France crowned Patrick Konrad, present in the breakaway of the day, in Saint-Gaudens. On the attack in the Col du Portet-d’Aspet, the Austrian champion kept the Colbrelli-Gaudu duo at bay, then the pursuers to sign the best victory of his career.
- In the ascent of the Col du Portet-d’Aspet, David Gaudu attacked with Sonny Colbrelli but the two men saw the group of pursuers come back to them in the last kilometers.
- In the general classification of this Tour de France 2021, Tadej Pogacar still has a comfortable lead of more than 5 minutes over his first pursuer Rigoberto Uran. A record gap that leaves little suspense for the final arrival on the Champs-Elysées next Sunday, except for a huge disaster by then.
Glory day for Patrick Konrad! Present in the breakaway of the day, the Austrian attacked twice, the last of which in the Col du Portet-d’Aspet to isolate himself definitively. Tomorrow, the riders will start from Muret for a 178 km long stage, with a finish at the top of the formidable Col du Portet, an ascent of 16 km at 8.7% average. After an easy start, serious things will begin after passing through Bagnères-de-Luchon, less than 70 km from the finish. The peloton will then have to climb the Col de Peyressoude, then the Col de Val Louron-Azet before the final ascent. The fight between the favorites will indeed take place tomorrow.
The rider of Ineos was ahead on the line Tadej Pogacar and Lutsenko, but without creating gaps in the general classification.
Attacking in the last difficulty, Wout van Aert leads the Yellow Jersey group in these last two km, where the top 11 in the general classification are listed.

This Tuesday July 13, the 16th stage of the Tour de France takes the riders from Pas de la Casa, in Andorra, to Saint-Gaudens, still in the Pyrenees. 169 km of race await the runners with a course which could suit the backpackers having preserved enough juice for this third week of competition if the climbers and the leaders of the race do not get involved. Three passes will have to be climbed this Tuesday: the Col de Port at 1249 m, the Col de la Core at 1395 m and the Col de Portet-d’Aspet at 1069 m:
The Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) still occupies the first place in the general classification of the Tour de France and had after the 16th stage of this Tuesday a lead of more than 5 minutes, unheard of since the 2000 edition, then led by a certain Lance Armstrong.
