Dior on Monday opened the doors of its new temporary store in New York, on the iconic Fifth Avenue, at the southeast corner of 59th Street.
Spanning two levels, the store of more than 600 square meters has been arranged to reflect the diversity of Dior universes, thus bringing together a wide variety of products in one place. It uses the codes of the Dior flagship store on the Champs-Élysées, borrowing its patterns and its colorful range, focused on silvery and off-white tones accented with beige and pale blue.
As for the cane motif, emblematic of the house, it recalls the Napoleon III style of the cane chairs on which Christian Dior made his guests sit during his parades. A pattern with pure lines that can also be found on the Versailles oak parquet and the polished concrete floor of the store on Fifth Avenue.
The facade of the boutique was designed exclusively for this location, and features the cane motif in different layers and scales, highlighted to create an effect of transparency, while the selected furniture reflects the neo-Louis XVI style and evokes the atmosphere of a Parisian mansion.
Regarding product selection, the store will distribute leather goods, shoes, ready-to-wear, fine jewelry and watches. For men there will be no watches or jewelry. The Dior Maison category will be represented in a personalization space.
The store will temporarily replace the Dior boutique on 57th Street, where a renovation and expansion is underway.
