Mainland Greece in the spotlight with the first campaign dedicated to winter tourism

Greece goes full speed ahead, even during the winter months when the lion’s share is the unique beauty of the mainland destinations and the rich experiences to be lived inland. The message of the country’s new campaign revolves around these cornerstones “Greece has a winter“: Authenticity, special identity, Greek tradition and safety, are promoted together with gastronomy and activities in nature, to make the general public aware of a Greece beyond its islands, the Greece of the mainland.

“For the first time, the declared objective of mitigating the high degree of seasonality and the geographical concentration of visitors, acquires tangible characteristics in the field of promotion of the Greek tourist product through first campaign of the Hellenic National Body for winter tourism – underlined the minister of tourism Vassilis Kikilias -. The campaign is coming at a difficult time across Europe due to the mutation, but our goal is to support our winter destinations which have been disproportionately tested over the past couple of years. At the same time, the campaign will have a dynamic character, which will follow the developments concerning the reference markets. I thank the Onassis Foundation for having contributed to the effort to create value for Greek society, through the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism for this production, as well as the next producers for domestic tourism, the city break, but also our great summer campaign ” .

“The new strategy of the Hellenic National Tourist Board treats all of Greece as one potential tourist destination throughout the year – added the Secretary General of the Hellenic National Tourist Board Dimitris Fragakis –. Following this logic, we launch the first campaign, which concerns the destinations of the mainland of our country, which have all the conditions to play a leading role in winter tourism. We put into practice our will to enhance our country beyond the well-known “sun-sea” model and to strengthen destinations and activities that offer unique winter experiences. I thank the Onassis Foundation for its kind contribution, fundamental for this great effort we are making in particularly difficult circumstances. In a few weeks we will start our next campaign abroad which will concern city break destinations, further strengthening the image of our country as a winter destination in the markets that interest us “.
