In addition to the already confirmed main stars of The Killers, Twenty One Pilots, Martin Garrix and LP, the program of the international music festival Colors Of Ostrava 2022 is expanding with other resounding foreign names. One of the most original and impressive bands of the American post-grunge scene, Modest Mouse, will come to the Czech Republic for the first time ever, and Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour has reaffirmed their participation. Visitors to the festival will also see why the young Irish band Inhaler is considered one of the most promising names on the contemporary Indian scene. Rodrigo Cuevas will combine electronics with Spanish Asturian tradition and queer themes, and Swedish-British Hang Massive will bring soft meditative music to Colors Of Ostrava.
“Colors Of Ostrava, according to its tradition, will offer a representative selection of African music in various forms next year – from the traditional to the hot present. At the same time, I am glad that “ presents festival director Zlata Holušová. The history of modern African music stands with this year’s 62-year-old Youssa N’Dour. It was he – perhaps the most artist – who attracted the attention of Western listeners. He broke down many surviving prejudices and demonstrated her unlimited possibilities. “You will never get confused by his breathtaking voice, you will always know that it is him. With the unrivaled band Le Super Étoile de Dakar behind him, with which he can play unforgettable energetic concerts,” added by playwright Jiří Moravčík. Youssou N’Dour has composed more than five hundred songs, recorded countless breakthrough albums, won a Grammy Award and many more, was named an African artist of the century and holds an honorary doctorate from Yale University. He will present the new, long-awaited album ‘Mbalax’ at Colors, which has attracted a lot of attention since its release, as the style of mbalax that Youssou N’Dour once helped create is in its rawest form. The American Modest Mouse, an iconic icon of indie rock, will perform in Ostrava for the first time in the Czech Republic. One of the most original and impressive bands in the American post-grunge scene, it has reached the peaks of mainstream fame in the past, impressed with “Float On”, received a Grammy nomination and attracted an army of loyal fans around the world. But she has never been in a hurry and has only released six albums in the last thirty years. And now the seventh – “The Golden Casket”. Inhalers are becoming an increasingly brilliant star of Irish indie rock. Four young men from Dublin – singer and guitarist Elijah Hewson, bassist Robert Keating, guitarist Josh Jenkinson and drummer Ryan McMahon – first attracted attention with singles with melodic choruses, then with their debut album “It Won’t Always Be Like This” as the first Irish band after For a long time they reached the top of the British charts and eventually won the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards 2021. At concerts alongside Noel Gallagher or on the American tour with Blossoms, they proved that they can easily cope with crowds in stadiums.
