THE GATE IN THE WOODS, THE FIFTH SINGER-WRITER ALBUM
His return was highly anticipated. Over the past few months, Roberto Angelini he took his first steps and published the song Incognita and of the individual Condor, chapters that immediately aroused great enthusiasm from critics and audiences.
In the new record, Roberto Angelini collects, among others, some pieces written and produced together with Gigi Canu e Marco Baroni of thePlanet Funk.
In addition, the artist also inserts his own version of the song The Island, which he had written for Emma Marrone and by the latter brought to success in 2018.
The presence of exceptional musicians is clearly perceived along the 12 tracks, from Rodrigo D’Erasmo a Fabio Rondanini, gives Darrin Mooney of the Primal Scream (present in the passage The ice Age) a Gabriele Lazzarotti, passing through the aforementioned Sing e Baroni, Ramon Josè Caraballos, Daniele “Coffee” Rossi, up to the musicians Kyungmi Lee e Valentina Del Re.
the words of ROBERTO ANGELINI
“This record is the result of ten years of meetings and collaborations, of notes in the dressing rooms and hotel rooms during the most varied tours. I have always tried to indulge the music and it was she who decided for me the life of the musician performer, preferring it to that of the songwriter. The songs no longer come out with the ease of the past and I no longer feel that need or urgency that I have always felt necessary to justify the effort of composing a record and the madness of expecting someone to listen to it.
In recent years I have played, produced, written for others, composed for theater, cinema and TV. I ventured into the fantastic world of lapsteel, pedalsteel and weissemborn trying to find an original language “.
“At a certain point I realized that I had put aside in the hard disks of recording studios, apartments, country houses, scattered places, Rome, Milan, London, Naples a series of things that deserved (in my opinion) to compose a disc.
The Gate in the Woods it contains all my souls and many of the collaborations of these years. There are songs written and produced together with Gigi Canu e Marco Baroni of the Planet Funk (one of my favorite bands ever), born to be sung by others and then left in the drawer.
The plot of talking leaves ed Honor are songs recorded with an instrument designed by me and made by the guys of Effects of Clara (ARP) that wants to emulate a modular with pedals originally designed for guitar.
In the end, The key to the gate is a piece written and played by my son Gabriele when he was 12. Rodrigo D’Erasmo he embellished it later with his violin.
I thank everyone who made my dream of living with music possible ”.

Roberto Angelini has crossed Italian music in many ways and made endless collaborations with numerous artists: among the most recent the signature as co-producer of the latest award-winning album by Niccolò Fabi Tradition and Betrayal and that of producer of the first album of Margaret Vicar. And again, several and important parallel projects: among the most fortunate those linked to Nick Drake with Rodrigo D’Erasmo – an album, a tour, a documentary – and, last but not least, the foundation of an independent label, Rare flowers.
