If you want a Bugatti Chiron in your garage, you’ll have to shed at least two million euros in your bank account. And even if the idea of a used Chiron crosses your mind, the price should be roughly similar. As a reminder, the production of the Chiron is limited to 500 copies, and there are still a few to be produced, the 300th model having finally been delivered at the beginning of the year.
As we know, the Chiron is as rare as it is expensive. But then why not turn to a damaged copy to try and “earn” some money?
Exactly, golden opportunity, there is one for sale very soon in Florida! Copart has a 2019 Bugatti Chiron which is badly damaged, notably burnt on the front left. According to a Royalty Exotic Cars video, the hypercar was purposely set on fire with a Molotov cocktail. The car apparently belonged to a hip-hop artist. The damage is evident on the fender and windshield, but other than that this Chiron doesn’t seem to have much more damage.
Of course, on such an expensive car, appearances can be deceiving. Copart’s ad on the Chiron does not mention specific damage, but the video indicates that the fire damaged components behind the dashboard, including the car’s wiring harness.
More importantly, the video claims that the fire damaged part of the Chiron’s left front shock absorber. One point is important because the tower is part of the carbon fiber structure of the Chiron and is an essential fulcrum. For this reason, the video states that the insurance company is talking about a total loss of the car, and that it has also classified it in the category of vehicles in spare parts, which means that it can no longer be used on the road, even if it is repaired. That doesn’t stop Royalty Exotic Cars from thinking about buying it anyway.
According to the video, they already tried to buy the car from the insurance company, but the asking price of $ 1.2 million (∼1 million euros) was far too high for a car that could never to be driven. Copart’s ad indicates an estimated value of $ 345,000, a figure very close to that mentioned in the video. Of course, it’s not enough to just buy a Chiron and order spare parts from the store down the street. With headlights alone estimated at $ 35,000, parts don’t come cheap and are extremely hard to come by.
Royalty Car Exotics have experience rebuilding wrecked Bugattis, and the video explains how they might even be able to repair damaged parts of the shock absorber. If the car can be bought in the range of $ 350,000 to $ 400,000, even a $ 1 million investment to fully repair the Chiron could fetch $ 1 million from resale. You still have to find the parts …
This Chiron will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. We can’t wait to find out how many! And you, how much would you be willing to put in?
