Vacationers miss their plane at BER – BZ Berlin for the third day in a row

Instead of a relaxed holiday start, there was also a lot of stress for many travelers at BER on Monday.

For the third day in a row, travelers had to show strong nerves. The reason for this was apparently again the chronic staff shortage at the check-in.

The staff at the check-in counters were repeatedly withdrawn to look after boarding at the gate.

“We got up at 3 am and were on time with the rental car at the airport,” say Sebastian (41) and Hannes (23) from Halle. They wanted to fly to Zurich with Lufthansa subsidiary Swiss at 9.30 a.m. and then on to Porto. “It didn’t go forward in line,” they say. The two fitters didn’t make it in time. Your plane went without them!

According to an airport spokesman, some passengers will benefit from additional baggage machines that check in electronically and only have to check in their luggage. However, this is only possible for a small group of travelers because many countries have tightened their entry requirements during the pandemic.

A Lufthansa spokeswoman: “That is why we ask travelers to find out about the entry requirements in advance and to be at the airport well in advance.”

However, when asked, it did not say how much time the airline recommends to travelers.
